UPM hosts the General Assembly of the European AI-CODE project

On 27–28 May 2026, the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid hosted the General Assembly of the European project AI-CODE, bringing together partners from across Europe to review project progress and coordinate upcoming development activities.

AI-CODE aims to develop innovative online services to combat disinformation within the Fediverse, fostering a more trustworthy, transparent, and resilient European information ecosystem. The project explores new tools and methodologies designed to support communication professionals and end users in identifying and mitigating misleading content.

During the meeting, partners discussed the integration of the project’s technological developments, collaboration with other European initiatives addressing similar challenges, preparation of the solutions for testing with end users — including news agencies and community managers — and the monitoring of key performance indicators defined by the consortium.

Researchers from the Grupo de Aplicación de Telecomunicaciones Visuales (GATV) played an active role in the organisation and execution of the event. Four members of the group, who coordinate the development of one of the project’s core services, welcomed representatives from leading organisations from Italy, Greece, Belgium, Slovakia, Germany, and Lithuania.

The General Assembly provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration among partners, validate progress achieved so far, and consolidate the roadmap for the coming months, supporting the development of innovative solutions to one of today’s most pressing digital challenges: tackling online disinformation.
