PUREMIND will create the first Integrated Mental Health Ecosystem (IMHE) to predict/early identify Mental Health Disorders (MHD) and create more optimal personalized interventions to prevent MHD and thus improve the well-being of children, adolescents and young adults (0-25 years). The ecosystem will mitigate key challenges associated with MHDs, specifically 1)Detection: 1 in 7 cases of MHDs undetected and untreated, 2)Treatment effectiveness: lack of tools and guidelines for personalized multidisciplinary interventions that work, 3)Access to support and care: long wait times for care due to lack of trained staff, 4)Inequality: disparate and inadequate mental health services between and within countries, and 5)Modern cultures and lifestyles: the increasingly recognized risk factor of digital addiction resulting in a sedentary and socially isolated lifestyle that contributes to TMD. PUREMIND’s approach, which combines analytical modeling of dynamic systems in the cyber-physical context of a subject’s personal natural environment, the process of interaction between gene, gut, brain and MDD, will create a much needed personalized intervention synthesis framework that will be exploited by an artificial intelligence engine to deliver optimized personalized intervention, and a unique digital twin that will educate young people on how MDD may develop based on their environment and lifestyle.
These 2 components will be combined into an accessible and adaptable MyMind mobile application to measure at scale and enable a subject to seamlessly access a 4-tier service architecture including family, community, clinical and emergency services, to support prediction and early detection of ADHD, empowering them to monitor their own mental health at home, education or community and take preventive action against ADHD. IMHE will be designed using the Implementation Science approach and will be validated in a 12-month pilot study in 7 European countries and 2 LMIC covering different socioeconomic and cultural settings.
